They are excellent for ventilation, and they come with a built in ventilation setting. Simply turn the handle horizontally until the closing mechanism catches the outermost hole in the fitting. This allows for air to flow through your window.
If you have children, you’ll be happy to know that side swing windows have a child lock as well. The child lock only allows the window to open 10cm. To open it further, you must disengage the child lock. This is very important if you have young children, because it prevents them from being able to climb out the window.
