In our previous article, we gave you three examples of patio doors. As there are more than 3 options when it comes to glass doors that separate indoors from outdoors, in this article we have another four suggestions that you can take into consideration. If French doors, sliding doors or French sliders are not what you are looking for, maybe you fancy telescoping doors, lift doors or folding glass doors. Let’s take a look at each one of them:

Telescoping patio doors

This is another type of sliding door and it’s perfect for houses that will allow for large openings. Three or more glass panels slide past each other to unite the indoors with outdoors. The greatest advantage of telescopic patio doors is that one of the panels can be opened, on either side, because none of them is fixed. They are not suitable for traditional houses.

Lift/slide doors

First, you should know this type of patio doors are quite expensive. But if you’re willing to make the investment, you’ll get in return a very nice wall of glass and hidden tracks. Each panel of lift doors uses a single track until they disappear nicely in an adjacent wall. These doors will give you the largest opening you can get.

Folding glass doors
Also pretty pricey, but more affordable than lift doors, folding glass doors also allow a great opening without pillars. These are preferable when there is no space to create a wall pocket for telescoping doors. The panels fold and appear like hinged doors. Speaking of which, one of the panels of the folding glass doors can be hinged and operate just like a standard door.

Pivot doors
Their advantage is that they create a big opening with only one panel. Also, functioning like hinged doors, they swing both ways, in and out. Being supported by pivots, their weight rests on the centre. Just like all types of patio doors presented in this article, pivot doors are quite costly. But the investment adds value to your home.

With all these options available, it’s down to your tastes and budget. Whenever you decide you need a new patio door, give us a call, we’ll make it happen for you.
